OKAY. CARS ARE DONE!!! DONE !!

Ive been busy as hell lately, as been the rest of the crew. With a new job, the Blown motor in the Grand Prix and the LS2 408 Stroker build ive been tied up with time. Well to say the least both the cars are done. Lets start with the Grand Prix.

Once the motor was pulled and examined the #6 piston severly damaged the cyliner wall. The head was also damaged beyond reliable repair. The Exhaust valve was bent and the intake valve was missing and their was too many scratches in the head. I decited to use another of my motors that never made the previous build. The complete engine was torn apart in less then 2 hours. The following day the 3800 series II block was sent out allong with the heads and crank to Westchester Crank (Reccomendations of Eddie of M-Spec, quick shout out)The block was bored out .02 over allong with honeing and hotbathing. The heads got a 3-Angle valve job also cleaned and re-surfaced and the crank balanced. Once the parts made their way back to the shop the build began. All new gaskets/seals, Clevite 77 rod/main/cam bearings were used allong with CompCams re-usable rocker-arm bolts. Onto the GOOD STUFF. The DAILY DRIVER got JE FORGED PISTONS followed by L32 coated rods from the series III motors. The JE Pistons are a 3.82 bore (97.03mm) with a dish depth of .125(3.18mm) and comp. dist of 1.194(30.33mm) and featured .073 SPIRO locks, WICH WERE THE BIGGEST PAIN IN THE FUCKIN ASS IN THE WORLD !! The compression was lowered from the previous set up to a stock 8.5:1 L67 GTP set up. I got a little tierd of blowing things up and want her as reliable as possible. The ring gap was made to .0019 on the top ring and .0021on the bottom ring as specified by JE as a street/strip appication. The build went smoothly. In fact too smooth. As the finaly touches were being put togther ex, fuel rails being installed i noticed their were no holes in the heads for the injectors. FUCK !!! BIG FUCK !!! The motor was about to be dropped in. At first i thought i sent out the wrong heads but with further investigation i didnt. One call to Westchester Crank and i found out they gave me L36 heads and not L67 heads. @@@@@'s. I told them i want MY heads !!! NOT A re-man fuckin core! The motor had to be dissassembled. HONESTLY I DIDNT EVEN GET A "sorry" or anything. The owner threw my heads on the counter and left. Spanky the guy behind the desk made minimal effort to get me new head gaskets; and failed to do so. Once i got my heads i assembles the heads with new valve seals the #105 springs and titanium retainers for my CompCam XP cam and started to assemble the rest of the motor. In the next few days the Grand Prix was pushes into the garage and cleaned up her engine bay a little and put some Dynamat HoodLiner on her Firewall. i removed the master brake cylinder for easier insall and mine had a broken sensor for the brake fluid res so it was the right time to change that. The motor was dropped in with the help of a few friends. ( Randy and Mike huge thanks !!! ) The following day the harness was connected... and nothing. She wouldnt turn over. No, the motor did not seize. The stater wasnt cranking. With further in dept investigation the conclusion led to the starter wires. They were connected the wrong way (Quick thanks to Chris from NYMCGP for coming with his GP). Once all connections were inspected another 10 times she fired right up. Idle was off. Above 1300 RPM. A vaccume leak was found on the Lower Inake Manifold. Fixed and idle was below 1000 in no time. The JE are a bit. A BIT louder. NoOoooO, nowhere near a disel !! In fact u wont even hear it unless its pointed out and isnt louder then the blower on idle. Since then about 200 miles were put on her and shes perfect. No WOT runs/tune yet. Ill wait to get 3000 miles on her then smack on a better fuel pump/rewire and then its goin to Matt at Tunetime for a tune. REALLY BIG THANKS TO CHRIS FOR HELPING WITH THE MOTOR AND THE SPIRAL LOCKS !!!
